Patriots Match Longest Winning Streak From Tom Brady Years with Triumph Over New York Jets
First-year player TreVeyon Henderson has recorded five touchdowns this season
New England equaled their longest winning run since the Brady period as they defeated AFC East opponents the New York Jets by 13 points in professional football
First-year standout TreVeyon Henderson led the way with three TDs as the New England squad secured an eighth consecutive victory for the first time since legendary quarterback Brady's last year with the franchise in 2019
QB Maye threw for 281 passing yards and a score, connecting on 25 out of 34 attempts
Victory increases the Patriots lead at the summit of the division as they advanced to a 9-2 record, with the New York bottom after slipping to a 2-8 mark
The Jets had gone in front at Foxborough with QB Justin Fields scoring a five-yard touchdown to cap the Jets' initial series
But the New England responded in the second period as the rookie scored two short rushing scores before the ball carrier caught a pass from Maye at the back of the end zone midway through the third period to extend the lead to 21 to 7
"It was a key occasion for him delivering, and it's been fantastic for him to keep gaining experience," Maye commented on Henderson. "He desires to be great."
Fields connected with John Metchie late in the third period to narrow the deficit for the Jets but Borregales booted a two field goals in the fourth quarter as the Patriots closed out the win
